How to unlock a phone
Unlocking your phone will remove the network sim-lock which network operators put on phones to prevent you using them on other networks. With an unlocked phone you will be able to use any sim card in your phone, saving your money. Mobile unlock is dedicated to finding you the best free and paid for unlocking services available.
There are two common methods to unlock your mobile phone:
The preferred method of unlocking, this simply involves entering an unlock code (some times referred to as a subsidy password) into the keypad of your phone. This remote unlock gets your phone unlocked the fastest in a safe manor and from the comfort of your own home.
- Unlock by cable (or clip):
Some phones can be unlocked with a special cable and computer software. This method is best left to the professionals in a phone shop, because it can be easy to permanently damage your phones internal software and may render the phone unusable. If however you are competent with phones and computers you may find some guides in our forums.
Unlock your phone for free
Many Nokias and generally older phones can be unlocked with freely supplied codes from calculators such as smartdct4calc. Please have a look at the available options for your phone on our main menu on the left.

How to get your phone unlock code
Whether you can unlock your phone for free or you have to purchase an unlock code you will need some information from your phone before the correct unlock can be obtained.
- IMEI number: This is the unique identity of the mobile phone, known as "International Mobile Equipment Identity". Codes will be calculated or obtained specifically for this handset, and no code will be the same for a different IMEI number. Make sure this is correct or you will receive no code, or worse an incorrect code.
- Find the IMEI number of your phone by typing *#06# into the keypad or by looking under the battery at the label.
- Network Locked to: Dependent on the phone you may need to supply the network which the phone is locked to, country and operator.
- Phone model: Dependent on the phone you may need to supply the phone manufacturer and model number, so the unlock code can be calculated specifically for this model of phone.
